All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Mrs. Laura Beard Mrs. Laura Beard; wife of Harry Beard; died at the family residence, 27 West Middle Street, this morning at 8:30 o'clock, She was aged 68 years, nine months and 22 days. Death resulted from a complication of diseases and followed an illness of about a year, which during the past six weeks confined Mrs. Beard to bed. Her parents were the late Jackson and Eliza Craumer, who lived in Hanover. Mrs. and Mrs. Beard observed their fifty-third wedding anniversary while she was confined to bed on March 1. Mrs. Beard was a life member of the Methodist Episcopal church and had been an active worker in all its branches. Some time ago she was president of the Ladies Aid Society of that Church for a number of years. She was also affiliated with Hanover home Communion and the Woman's League of Gettysburg College. Surviving are her husband and four daughters as follows: Mrs.. Howard D. Garrett, 228 Centennial Ave; Mrs. Calvin W Plowman 478 Carlisle Street; Misses Gertrude and Bertha Beard at home. Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Emma Shields, Philadelphia, and Mrs. Charles F. Redding, 245 Baltimore Street and a brother Charles H. Craumer 39 West Middle Street, also survives. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2:30p.m. with services at the house. The Rev J.H. Creenawalt, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Rev J. Emory Weeks will officiate. Internment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Hanover Evening Sun, April 4, 1927
