Bender, widow of the late Jacob W. Bender, died at her home, No. 142 Carlisle street, at 11 o’clock a.m., Wednesday, from a complication of diseases. The deceased had been an invalid for the past two years. She was aged 75 years, 3 months and 27 days. Mrs. Bender was a daughter of the late Adam and Elizabeth Slagle, of near this place. She was married to Jacob W. Bender in 1860, and they began housekeeping in the home where she died, having lived there her entire married life. Her husband died two years ago. The deceased is survived by one brother, William A. Slagle, of Charleston, W. Va., and three daughters, Mrs. Charles Blocher, of Littlestown; Mrs. Harry Stauffer, of High street, Hanover, and Miss Margaret Bender, and one son, J. Curvin Bender, at home. There are also two grandchildren, Paul Blocher, of Littlestown, and Mrs. John Hoffman, of Carlisle, Pa. Funeral Saturday, Nov. 2d, services at the house at 10 a.m., Rev. A. S. Dechant, of Emmanuel Reformed church, officiating. Interment on the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, November 2, 1912
