Bender Following an illness of nearly four months from a complication of diseases, Mrs. Sarah Jane Bender, wife of John E. Bender and a life-long Hanoverian, passed away at her late home No. 41 Carlisle Street, Sunday morning at 6 o’clock. She was aged 79 years, 9 months and 8 days. The deceased was a daughter of the late Daniel and Catharine (Bucher) Flickinger and was born in Hanover August 26, 1836. Mrs. Bender was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church since girlhood. She was an affectionate mother and a friend of all who knew her. Fifty-four years ago she was married to Mr. Bender, who survives with two sons, William Bender, of Pine Street, and Alvin A. Bender, at home. There are also seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren surviving. Funeral, Wednesday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m., services at her late home No. 41 Carlisle Street, Rev. A. M. Heilman of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church officiating. Interment on the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, June 10, 1916
