Bowman After a prolonged illness from heart trouble and dropsy, John S. Bowman died Monday, Dec. 16, at 2:30 a.m. at his home, in Grangeville. His age was 65 years, 6 months and 10 days. The deceased was a son of John and Catharine Bowman, late of Penn township, and is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Miss Sarah E. Trone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel G. Trone, late of Heidelberg township, and an only son, Samuel S. Bowman, residing on York street. He is also survived by one brother, Philip S. Bowman, Esq., of Grangeville; and four sisters, Mrs. Angeline Keller, widow of Henry Keller, of Centennial avenue; Mrs. J. W. Fischer, of East Middle street; Mrs. Agnes Sell, widow of George W. Sell, of Pennville, and Mrs. Catharine Myers, widow of Jacob Myers, of York. Mr. Bowman was a member of Hanover Lodge No. 318 Knights of Pythians, and a prominent member of Gideon Grange No. 810, Patrons of Husbandry. Funeral Thursday, December 19, services at the house at 9:30 a.m. Rev. J. H. Hartman officiating, interment in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, December 21, 1912
