Bowman, a well-known citizen of Hanover, died at his home, No. 547 York street, Saturday, December 6, at 3:30 p.m., from dropsy, with which he had been afflicted about four weeks. Although it was observed his condition was gradually becoming more serious, his death came very suddenly, the spirit passing away peacefully without a struggle while sitting in a chair at his home. His age was 79 years, 4 months and 17 days. Mr. Bowman was a son of the late David and Barbara Bowman, and was born in Heidelberg township. His wife died four years ago, since which time he lived with his son, Calvin Bowman, who is the only child surviving him. He is also survived by two brothers, Samuel H. Bowman, Penn township, and Henry H. Bowman, of Blooming Grove; and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Saltzgaver and Miss Lucinda Bowman, of West Manheim township. Funeral Tuesday, December 9, brief services at the house at 1:30 p.m.; further services and interment at Bair’s meeting-house, Rev. M. J. Roth, pastor of Trinity Reformed church, officiating.
