Cornelius Brodbeck, a workman near the coal chutes at Hanover Junction, York county, was run down Thursday evening by an N. C. express train, killed and terribly mangled. Brodbeck was walking toward his home and was on the northbound track of the railway. He was about 75 years old and quite deaf and did not hear the whistle, although engineer Amos Reed declares he gave the man all possible notice. It was impossible for the train to stop in time and the old man was caught by the engine and practically cut to pieces. New Oxford Item, New Oxford, PA, September 19, 1907
