C. express train. The child was instantly killed, its left leg being broken and skull crushed. The mother of the little boy witnessed the dreadful accident from a window in her home, where she was seated, but was so paralyzed by dread that she could not move while the child was approaching the tracks on which the express train was rushing onward. The body of the little boy was thrown fully one hundred feet and landed on the north bound tracks. Coroner Dehoff was notified and proceeded to the scene of the accident, but deemed the holding of an inquest unnecessary. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, June 26, 1909
