April 11 - Jacob W. CRAUMER, former justice of the peace of West Manheim township, died last night at 11 o'clock at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William SHUE, York street. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. He was aged 79 years. He was born in West Manheim township ad was the son of the late Henry and Elisabeth WENTZ CRAUMER. His wife who was Miss Elisabeth MASEMORE, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob MASEMORE, West Manheim township, died nine years ago. Since the death of his wife he has been making his home with his daughter and son. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William SHUE, York street, and a son, Z. E. CRAUMER, near Abbottstown. While a resident of Pleasant HIll he served the township a justice of the peace for 39 years. In 1870 he and Jesse K. WENTZ were largely instrumental in having West Manheim accept the public school system. This was the last township of the county to accept the provisions of the law of 1834. He was also an agent for the Codorus and Manheim Fire Insurance Company for 40 years, and has taught school in Carroll county, Md. and York county for a period of 21 years. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of St. David church and held the office of elder and decon for 26 years. Since residing with his son near Abbottstown he had his church papers transferred to the Lutheran church at Abbottstown. He was a staunch Democrat and always took an actibe interest in politics. The funeral will be held on Saturday morning. Services will be conducted at the Shue home at 10 o'clock. Co. for forty years. He leaves two children, C. E. CRAUMER of near Abbottstown, and Mrs. Wm. SHUE of Hanover. Funeral services on Saturday by Rev Paul Gladfelter with interment in Mt.
