CRAUMER, a highly respected citizen of York, died suddenly Sunday morning of heart failure, aged 69 years. Deceased was for many years a minister of the United Brethren Church. Owing to failing health he was obliged to retire from active work some years ago. Deceased was an uncle of Mrs. Peter MILLER, Carlisle street, this place. Craumer died very suddenly of heart failure at the home of his daughter, at Dallastown, PA, where he and his wife had gone the evening before to visit. He was born near Shrewsberry, York Co,PA and died June 4, 1899, aged 69 years, 9 months, and 1 day. He was converted at a revival meeting held by the United Brethren at Airhart's paper-mill, near the place of his death, more than fifty years ago, and immediately joined the church. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Conference and was ordained by Bishop Glossbrenner about thirty years ago. During his ministry he traveled large circuits. He was a successful evangelist. The last seventeen years he lived in the city of York, but during this time he preached in Lancaster County, served Jefferson charge, and up to the time of his death served a union church near York Haven, PA. He was of a jovial and social disposition, whereby he made and held many friends, who very frequently sought his services to baptize their children, and bury their dead. His funeral was largely attended, sixteen ministers were present. Rev C.T. Stearn, D.D., and the writer were the speakers.
