Ditzler Mrs. Mary Ditzler, wife of Daniel H. Ditzler, of No. 206 East Middle Street, died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, after a week’s illness, following a stroke of paralysis received about four years ago. She was aged 69 years, 7 months and 29 days. The deceased was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Ehrhart) Ruff and was born in Hamilton Township, Adams County. On September 13, 1877 she was married to D. H. Ditzler, who survived with the following children: Rev. Irwin S. Ditzler, of East Berlin; Rev. John A. Ditzler, of Frederick, Md., D. Edwin Ditzler, of Phoenixville; Miss Clara Ditzler at home and Mrs. W. T. Brundick, of Cumberland, Md. There are seven grandchildren, Harold, Irwin, Jr., Catherine and John Ditzler, of East Berlin; Anna Mary and Edward Daniel Ditzler, of Frederick, Md.; and Richard Edward Ditzler, of Phoenixville. A brother, Prof. Daniel Ruff, of New Oxford, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Crumrine, of Littlestown, and Mrs. Emma King, of McAllister Street, Hanover, also survive. For many years Mrs. Ditzler had been a consistent member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, and was affiliated with the Mite Society and Missionary Society of the congregation and was a member of Dr. M. M. Fleagle’s Bible Class. She was faithful to her duties in the church, even to the last communion. Funeral, Friday, August 18th, services in Emanuel Reformed church at 2 p.m., Rev. Abner S. Dechant officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Ditzler of 206 East Middle St. died this morning at 8:15 o'clock from the effects of a paralytic stroke which she sustained four years ago. She was aged 69 years, 7 mo., and 29 days. The deceased was a daughter of John and Elizabeth Ruff, of Hamilton Twp., Adams County. September 7, 1877 she was married to Mr. Ditzler, of Adams County. Twenty years ago the family moved to Hanover where they have since resided. She is survived by her husband, three sons, the Rev. Ervin S. Ditzler, pastor of the East Berlin charge; the Rev. John Ditzler, pastor of Grace Reformed Church, Frederick, Md; Prof. D. Edwin Ditzler, teacher of mathematics in the Phoenixville High School; two daughters, Miss Clara, at home, and Mrs. William T. Brundick, of Cumberland, Md. One brother, Professor Daniel Ruff, of New Oxford, two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Krumrine, of Littlestown, and Mrs. Emma King, of McAllister St. and seven grandchildren also surviving. Mrs. Ditzler was a woman of active disposition, devoted to her church, kind and helpful to her neighbors, and at all times ready to do all in her power for those who were in need. Her departure cast a shadow over her large circle of friends and she will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Ditzler was a faithful and consistent member of Emanuel's Reformed Church since her residence in Hanover, and was a member of the Mite and Missionary Societies of that church. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with services from her late home at 2 o'clock, and further services at the church, by the pastor, the Rev. Abner S. Dechant, of Emanuel's Reformed Church. Interment will be made in the family lot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Evening Sun - Tuesday, August 15, 1916
