All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Death of a Young Man Earl Bucher Eckert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horner Eckert, of No. 41 East Middle street, died Wednesday, Feb. 19th, at 2:30 p.m., from tuberculosis, after an illness of about eight months. He was aged 17 years, 4 months, and 12 days. The young man was the only son of his parents, the family moving to Hanover last Spring, from New Oxford. He secured employment at the Houck bakery, High street, and after working for about four weeks, met with an accident, resulting in a severe injury to his right hand. After the accident he suffered a nervous breakdown, which led to his fatal illness. Funeral Monday, Feb. 24th, brief services at the house at 10 a.m., after which the body will be taken to Gettysburg on the 11:35 a.m. train, where further services will be held in St. James Lutheran church.
