Ehrhart, died Saturday evening at 10:30 o'clock at her home, 108 Carlisle street. Death followed an illness of three years. She was aged 88 years. Mrs. Ehrhart was a daughter of the late John M. and Elizabeth Metzger Wolfe, and was born October 6, 1853, in Abbottstown, where she resided until sixteen years of age when the family moved to Hanover. Mrs. Ehrhart was engaged in teaching school for about thirty five years, thirty years of which she was an instructor in the local schools, and is well remembered by many of the middle-aged residents of this place who received instructions under "Miss Jo" as she was affectionately known by her pupils. She began her teaching profession in the school at Abbottstown where she assisted her father who was the instructor there. She later taught school at Nashville and subsequently in the schools of Hanover until her retirement from the teaching profession. Mrs. Ehrhart would often recall now at an early age she had assisted her mother in feeding Union soldiers as they passed through Abbottstown to and from Gettysburg. She also could recall other interesting events of the Civil War days. Following her retirement from teaching school she was married to Daniel D. Ehrhart, who preceded her in death in 1930. Surviving are a step-son, Robert L. Ehrhart, Carlisle street; three sisters and one brothers, Mrs. Samuel L. Bixler, West Walnut street; Miss Emily K. Wolfe, 108 Carlisle street; Ernest Wolfe, Princess street, Hanover and Mrs. Charles B. Winters, Denver, Colo., and a number of nieces and nephews.
