Cross Roads, Sept 4 – After a lingering illness due to a combination of 
diseases, Joseph FISHEL, retired farmer, died at 11:45 o’clock this morning at 
the home of his son, Howard FISHEL, in East Hopewell township near here. He was 
in his 81st year. Surviving him are five sons, Thomas, Akron, O., Matthew and 
Ralph, Stewartstown; Oram, Hagerstown, Md., and Howard, at whose home he died; 
one daughter Mrs. James MILLER, York, and one brother, Charles FISHEL, Red. 
Lion. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. After a brief services at 
the house, the funeral cortege will proceed to Hopewell Presbyterian church for 
concluding services. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. 
Benjamin SHAW will officiate. Funeral Director S. O. Smith is in charge of 
arrangements.
