Gallatin, former sheriff of York county, who removed to Los Angeles, Cal., about eight years ago, died in that city Monday, Nov. 4th. He was a veteran of the 37th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, and served three years during the Civil war. Subsequently he kept hotel at Red Lion, Hanover and York, and finally became a factor in York county politics. He is survived by his wife and one son, Samuel A. Gallatin, who was deputy sheriff of York county for several terms. The following brothers and sisters also survive him: Albert Gallatin, Mrs. Isabel Conoway and Mrs. Amelia Givens. He was in his 67th year at the time of his death. His funeral will be held in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, November 9, 1912
