All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ FINDS HER FATHER DEAD John Gunnet, Aged Stoverstown Resident, Succumbs to Apoplexy – Daughter Hears Moans Too Late John Gunnet, a retired carpenter and one of the village's most aged residents, died suddenly yesterday morning shortly after 4 o'clock in bed after a stroke of paralysis. Attracted by his moaning, Louise, a daughter, went to the room of her father to investigate. She found him dead. She hurriedly summoned Mrs. George Emig, and Dr. O. A. Delle, of York New Salem. A son of the deceased died in the same manner about a year ago. Mr. Gunnet who, only several weeks ago celebrated his eightieth birthday anniversary, was in apparently good health when he retired last night. Wednesday he visited the local store of Baer & Gentzler, and appeared in the best of spirits. He was a staunch Democrat and was a resident of this place for many years. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Frederick Glatfelter, of Bair; Mrs. Peter Glatfelter, of North Codorus township; Louisa, at home; Andrew, of North York; Martin, of York, and Emanuel, of Stoverstown. The funeral will be held on Sunday morning. Short services at the house at 9:30 o'clock will be followed by services at St. Paul's Lutheran church. Interment will be made in the adjacent cemetery. The Rev. Frederick S. Geesey pastor of the Muhlenburg Lutheran charge, will officiate. York Dispatch - Friday, January 28, 1916
