Hamm, 60, Hanover, R. 1, died Friday at Hanover General Hospital. He was the first stallion master at Hanover Shoe Co. Farms and spent 40 years with the Standard Bred Nursery. Highlights of Hamm's career included being the first to ever harness the world-champion pacer, Bret Hanover, and working with Titan Hanover, first two-minute trotter and Hamm's favorite colt. He directed a staff of five. Hamm was a son of the late Hugh K. and Ruth Cromer Hamm. He was a member of the Littlestown VFW Social club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Della L. Hamm; his step-mother, Mrs. Mary Hamm, of Hanover R. 5; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Grove, of Hanover; a brother, Richard, of Hanover; four sisters, Dorothy Hamm, of Baltimore, Mrs. Helen Yost, of Hanover, Mrs. Ann Shaffer, of West Palm Beach and Mrs. Jean Adams of Wilmington; a half-sister, Mrs. Linda Gross, of Dover, and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church, Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Robert Sheffpsy officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
