The Last of a Noted Family Gone.
     The death of Peter Hawn, the last of the noted family of Hawn brothers, 
occurred at his residence in Juniata township, on Thursday morning last.  He 
was aged about 86 years, and had been in poor health for some time.  He was the 
last one of seven brothers, all of whom lived to a ripe old age.  They were all 
industrious, hard-working men, and by strict economy saved a considerable 
amount of money.
     Peter was a true Christian, an honest man, and was very liberal in his 
donations to the Lutheran church, of which he was a member.
     His experience in late years had been anything but pleasant.  It was the 
general belief that he kept his money secreted about the premises, and twice 
had his home been entered by masked robbers in search of the supposed hidden 
treasure, but each attempt proved futile.  An attempt was made to prove him 
insane, but without success, and even in his advanced years he was capable of 
attending to business.
     The funeral took place on Saturday last, and the remains were interred in 
the family cemetery, a short distance from his residence.

Additional Comments:
Peter was aged 84 yrs. 6 mo. 14 d at his death.  Born 17 Nov, 1803.  The 
Hawn/Haun graves were moved to the Old Stone Church cemetery in Marklesburg, 
Pa.  There were 8 Hawn brothers, and 1 sister who died at age 4.  Only 2 of the 
brothers married, Michael and Jacob, though Peter had a son out of wedlock.  
These were the children of John and Juliana Henry Haun of York Co. who came to 
Huntingdon Co. between 1791 and 1793.
