All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Jacob Henry Following an illness of six weeks from typhoid fever, Jacob Henry died at his late home, No. 172 North street at 12:40 p.m. Monday, March 13. He was aged 71 years, 7 months and 12 days. The deceased was a son of the late George Henry and was born in Baltimore county, Md. He was married to Miss Alice L. Sterner, a daughter of the late Philip and Amanda (Metzler) Sterner, of West Manheim township, July 7, 1878. Thirty-six years ago the family moved to Hanover. Mrs. Henry died September 17, 1913. In early life Mr. Henry taught school. During his later years he was employed as a male nurse, having charge of invalids. He held the office of Judge on the election board of the Second ward for about fifteen years. He was a Republican in politics. Mr. Henry leaves the following children: Mervin Henry, of High street; Charles Henry, of North street; Melvin Henry, of George street; Paul Henry, of Poplar street; Earl and John Henry, of Fulton street; Mrs. E. G. Zinneman, of Summit avenue; Mrs. Emanuel Wolford, Jr., of Pleasant street; Mrs. Clarence Hardeman, of Columbia; Mrs. Ralph Biddle, of Fulton street; Miss Helen, Earl and Robert Henry, at home. Also, one sister, Miss Susan Henry, of Baltimore street, and two brothers, Abram Henry, of Baltimore, and George Henry, of Crestline, Ohio. There are also 31 grand-children surviving.
