HERSH, formerly of near East Berlin, died at his home in West York, last Tuesday after a lingering illness, aged 83 years and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Welsh, and two sons, Edward Hersh and J. Emory Hersh, York; one brother, residing in Spokane, Wash. Mr. Hersh was a member of Company I, 26th Emergency Regiment in the Civil war. He was captured at Gettysburg and held a prisoner during the battle. He was a blacksmith by trade and was well known and liked for his jovial disposition. Funeral was held on Saturday afternoon with interment in New Oxford cemetery. Gettysburg Compiler, Gettysburg, PA, May 27, 1922
