The many friends of Mrs. Henry B. Houck, of York Street, were shocked this morning, when the news spread that she had been found dead in bed by her husband. Although Mrs. Houck had been quite feeble for some time, on account of her advanced age, she still enjoyed fairly good health. When the aged couple retired last evening at 9 o'clock, Mrs. Houck was in apparent good health. About 7 o'clock this morning, when Mr. Houck awoke he spoke to his wife, but received no answer, and upon investigation discovered that life was extinct. Dr. M. M. Fleagle was summoned and after an examination, pronounced that death was due to paralysis. Mrs. Houck was about 81 years of age. Before her marriage, she was Miss Sarah Starner, and was born and reared in Carroll County, Md. January 30th, 1838, she was married to Henry B. Houck, by the Rev. Mr. Harper. About forty years ago they moved to Hanover, where they have since resided. She is survived by her husband, one son, Albert P. Houck, of Omaha, Nebraska, and one daughter, Mrs. Jackson Craumer, of Frederick Street; also, nine grandchildren, 23 great grand children, and one great great grandchild. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house. Rev. Dr. J. D. Koller, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Evening Herald, Hanover, York County, PA, Wednesday, March 15, 1899
