Jacobs, real estate agent, residing at 536 Madison avenue, died at 4:30 a.m. yesterday from an attack of typhoid fever after a sickness of 10 days. He was 55 years old. He was for a time associated in business with John H. Rutter and it was for his (Jacobs’) farm in West Manchester township that the directors of the poor first proposed to spen $28,000 (?), as a new site for a county almshouse, though Jacobs stated afterward that the price he had asked for the property was only $18,000. Mr. Jacobs was a native of Adams county but had lived for the past 15 years in York. He leaves his wife, five sons, two daughters, four brothers and three sisters. His sons are: E. Oscar Jacobs, Springetsbury township; Howard E. Jacobs, West Manchester township; Raymond C, C. Jacobs, mechanical engineer for the Consolidated Copper company, Ruth, Neb.; William P. Jacobs, Grantley station, West Manchester township; and Archie J. Jacobs, at home; daughters, Mrs. Hattie D. Eckhart, Allentown; and Miss Nettie F. Jacobs, at home. His brothers are Peter B. Jacobs, York; William Jacobs, Mechanicsburg, Cumberland county, and John Jacobs, East Berlin, Adams county; Mrs. George Hykes and Mrs. Emanuel Zepp, East Berlin. York Daily, August 24, 1915
