Kautz, pastor of Lutheran charge at New Windsor, Spry and Blymire, York county, dropped dead in the pulpit of Christ Lutheran Church at Spry on last Sunday morning. A few seconds after announcing the opening hymn he was seen to sway forward and he sank to the floor. He was dead when picked up. He lived in York. He was born in Baden Province, Germany, and came to America when very young. He graduated from Gettysburg College in class of 1877 and from the Seminary three years later. His first charge was at McConnellsburg, then at Carlisle, and the greater part of his latter life was spent at charges in York county. He was about 70 years old. The funeral was on Thursday. Besides his wife he leaves five children, Arlington H. Kautz, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Eugene Kautz, of Washington, D. C.; Paul Kautz, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Roy and Florence Kautz, at home.
