Koller, 74 years of age, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his late home in Kenton, Ohio, Tuesday, March 23. Mr. Koller was born in York County, Pennsylvania, October, 1841, and was a son of Henry and Mary (Cramer) Koller, natives of this county. He went to Ohio in 1860, and located on his uncle’s farm, in Seneca County, Ohio. He enlisted in Company H, 101st Ohio Volunteer Infantry and fought during the Civil war at Stone River, December 31st, 1863, and at Perryville, Ky., Oct. 6, 7 and 8, 1862. At the latter battle he was wounded seriously and was taken to a hospital at Murfreesboro, thence to Newport, Ky., and finally to Camp Denison, Ohio, where he recovered and joined his regiment at Chattanooga. Mr. Koller was a brother of the late Rev. Dr. J. C. Koller, for 30 years pastor of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church, this place. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, April 8, 1916
