All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ FORMER STAGE OPERATOR DIES David Leiphart, who drove horse-drawn Coach years ago, passes away ------- HOME AT RICHMOND Richmond, April 22 - David Leiphart, who at one time operated a horse-drawn stagecoach between Craley and York died at his home in Chanceford township at this place on Saturday at 7:30 PM. Mr. Leiphart, who is aged 61 years, three months and 21 days, had been a suffer from rheumatism for some years. This developing into a heart ailment, caused death. He had been bedfast for about three weeks. Mr. Leiphart spent practically all his life is a resident of this vicinity. He was a farmer but for a period of years he operated the stagecoach. Usually, he made the trip to York once each day, leading Craley early in the morning and returning to the starting point after a round-trip in the evening. The trip was made by way of Red Lion. The line was discontinued about 20 years ago. Surviving Mr. Leiphart are four children, John Leiphart and Mrs. Harry Leiphart of this place: Mrs. Henry Leiphart, Red Lion; and Harold Leiphart, of this place; and two brothers, Amos Leiphart, of Wrightsville RD 2; and Ulysses Leiphart, Craley. Four grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon and 1:30 o'clock at the late home. Further services will be held in the sale of evangelical church with Rev. Clair C. Kreidler, pastor of the Craley Evangelical charge, officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Funeral director George W.
