She was aged 75 years, 10 months and 3 days. Mrs. Loss, who was Miss Mary Buckholtz, was of German descent, having been born in Mecklenburg, Germany, May 31, 1840. She was married to Jacob Loss in that country and a short time later, in 1865, they came to America, settling first in New Jersey and the following year, just 50 years ago, came to Hanover, where the remainder of her life was spent. A remarkable feature lies in the fact that they moved into the house, No. 36 North street, where the family lived ever since. Mr. Loss died 35 years ago. Mrs. Loss was a life-long Lutheran and for many years has been a member of St. Matthew’s church. The following children survive: Henry Loss, of Baltimore; George Loss, of No. 212 East Chestnut street; Jacob Loss, at home, and Charles Loss, of No. 404 Locust street. There are also 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday, April 11th, services at her late home at 2 p.m., Rev. A. M. Heilman, of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church, officiating. Interment on the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, April 15, 1916
