Helen L. Maddox - Stewartstown Hardware Store retiree

STEWARTSTOWN - Helen L. Maddox, 87, formerly of Stewartstown, died at 6:20 
p.m. Sunday January 3, at Rest Haven-York. She was the wife of J. Earl "Bud" 
Maddox Sr. The couple observed their 64th wedding anniversary June 16, 1998.
The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 
26 S Main St., Stewartstown. Burial will be in Stewartstown Cemetery. Viewing 
will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. The J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary 
Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Maddox was born Oct 15, 1911, in Hopewell Township. She was the daughter 
of the late John J. and Minerva C. (McDole) Bowman.

She was a sales clerk at the former Stewartstown Hardware Store, reitring in 
1972. She had also worked at the former Trout Department Store in Sewartstown. 
She was a member of Stewartstwon United Methodist Church, its Semper Fidelis 
Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Maddox is survived by a son, James E. Maddox Jr of Fairfield; four 
grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five step 
great grandchildren; and a sister, Bernita Wise of Stewartstown. Mrs. Maddox 
was preceded in death by a son, John R. Maddox.

Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. M. Lee Ellenberger.
