All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Died in Hospital Eli Martin, of No. 541 York street, died at the Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, Sunday, August 11, at 3 p.m. His age was 56 years, within one day. For some time Mr. Martin had been ill, suffering from a complication of diseases and two weeks ago his physician, Dr. M. M. Fleagle, deemed it advisable to take him to the hospital for an operation. He was too weak, however, to undergo the ordeal, remaining at the hospital, where his condition became more serious, until the end came to his sufferings. The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Martin, and was born in West Manheim township. He moved with his family to Hanover seven years ago. He is survived by a widow, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Arter, late of West Manheim township, three sons and two daughters – John W. Martin, of East Middle street; Jacob, Miss Lillie, Charles and Mrs. Clarence Morgan, all at home. He is also survived by one brother, Jacob Martin, of near Westminster, Md. Funeral Wednesday, August 14, brief services at the house at 1 p.m. Further services and interment at Bair’s meeting house, Rev. J. H. Hartman officiating.
