Ernest R. McDowell Sr.

Ernest  R. McDowell Sr., 72, husband of Mary Orendorff McDowell, 200 S. Yale 
St., died at 3:45 a.m. Thursday at Colonial Manor Nursing Home.

Born in Hopewell Township, he was a son of the late Adam and Sarah Muir 
McDowell.

Prior to his retirement in 1972, he was assistant director of the Bureau of 
Audits of State Aided Institutions in the Auditor General’s Office, Harrisburg. 
He was a member of Victory Athletic Association, 12th Ward Democratic Club, 
White Rose Lodge 706, F&AM, and Victory Fire Co.

He also is survived by two sons, Ernest It. McDowell Jr., Harrisburg, and P0 
3.C. Philip   J. McDowell, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va.; and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Saturday at Keffer Funeral Home, 902 Mt. 
Rose      Ave. The Rev. Msgr. Vincent J. Topper, pastor of St. Joseph’s Catholic 
Church, will officiate.  Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery

am, at the Keffer Funeral Home. 902 Mt. Rose Ave. Interment in Holy Saviour 
Cemetery.
