Mr. John R. McELWAIN died on Saturday last after an illness of over six weeks, from heart complication. He was in the prime of life, and ready to enjoy the fruits of years of hard labor. An unfinished addition to his house, just begun tells of unrealized hopes. He was a most active member of Centre church, as all his family. For years, he has taught in the Sabbath school, a class of young men, and was at the time of his death, the Treasurer of the church. He leaves a widow and seven children, who have the warmest sympathy of the entire community. His funeral took place on Tuesday in the presence of a large audience. The young men of the Bible class were the pallbearers and honorary pallbearers and attested their appreciation of his faithful efforts by floral tokens. The other death was equally if not more sad. Mrs. Ramsay HOWETT, of Chanceford Township died on Sabbath after a brief illness, leaving a husband with three little ones, motherless, helpless. Truly, Death does not respect human claims and needs, and no man is sure of the morrow. She was laid to rest in the beautiful green of our cemetery on Wednesday of this week. The heartfelt sympathy of Mr. HOWETT's many friends will follow him wherever he goes.
