About 12 o'clock he and his wife walked out upon the covered porch on the front of their house and seated themselves on chairs, when the fatal bolt struck the house and flashed down upon the two. Mrs. Miller was severely shocked, but suffered no injurious effects. Her husband, however, was struck dead in his chair. It is thought that a pair of steel rimmed spectacles which Miller wore proved the attraction which drew the stroke of lightning upon him. Both frame and glasses were melted by the contact of the fluid. He was about 56 years of age. New Oxford Item, New Oxford, PA, July 28, 1899
