P. of Slips On Ice And Suffers Injury To Head FOUND DYING BY BOY Delta and Cardiff. Feb. 9 -- found in an unconscious condition this morning in front of his grocery store and Cardiff, E. P. MITZEL was carried to the office of Dr. W. E. Arthur, written for physician pronounced in dead. Since no postmortem was held it was not determine whether Mr. MITZEL died from heart attack, the effects of a head injuries suffered in the fall on the ice, or both. He was 63 years old. Mr. MITZEL had left this home in Cardiff after seven o'clock this morning for his place of business. He drove his automobile. According to an investigation by by Justice of the Peace Breckenridge Heaps, Cardiff. MITZEL slipped on the ice in front of the store. He fell to the ground, striking his head on a jagged piece of ice, inflicting a deep wound on the scalp. Surely before 3 o'clock, Melvin NORRIS, son of Mrs. Hazel NORRIS, Cardiff, came by the store and saw the man lying on the ground. He called to the employee of the duly warehouse nearby. A number of Workman came to the scene and found injured man on conscious, bleeding from a head, his body lying in a pool of blood. No Post Mortem Necessary The man carried into Dr. Arthur's office, where the physician found life extinct. Dr. Arthur said that the man had been suffering from heart ailment for some time and stated that he could not determine if the man suffered a heart attack and died before he fell or whether death resulted from the head injury. After completing his investigation Squire Heaps decided that there was no foul foul play connected with the case and that no postmortem would be necessary to determine the cause of death. Mr. MITZEL had conducted his store and Cardiff for the past 15 years. Previously to that time he and his family resided near New York where he had engaged in farming. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eva Jones MITZEL; a son, Schall MITZEL, Baltimore; a stepdaughter, Miss Flora JONES, Baltimore; a brother, William G. MITZEL, Baltimore; and two sisters, Mrs. Annie ANDERSON, residing in the state of Michigan; and Mrs. Ida ECKBERT, Baltimore. The funeral will be held Monday with services at his late home at 1 PM Rev. B. W. Jones, pastor of Slateville Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be made in the Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery, New Park. the Masonic order of Cardiff, of which he was a member, with conduct graveside services. Funeral Director H. P. February 13 -- the funeral of E. P. MITZELL, who died suddenly last Friday morning, was held 1 o'clock Monday afternoon at his late home in Cardiff. Rev. B. W. Jones pastor of the Slateville Presbyterian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. W. A. Price, pastor of Highland Presbyterian Church. The pall bearers were: Arthur Robinson, Charles H. McNabb, Marshall T. Heaps, Nelson A. Heaps, J. T. Gailey, and J. and J. M. Dooley. Interment was made in Center Cemetery, near New Park. The Masonic order of Cardiff of which Mr. MITZELL was a member, conducted graveside services. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
