Mrs. Mummert in extinguishing the flames was burned about the hands and face. How the accident occurred no one knows. Mrs. Mummert went to the woodshed to get some chips to start the fire, and returning found the child ablaze running in circles in the house and on the porch. When caught, the clothing was almost entirely burned off her body, and charred clothes with the flesh fell to the kitchen floor and porch. On the porch and wherever the child had been, the woodwork was charred. As soon as the accident occurred Dr. HOKE, of Spring Grove, was summoned and dressed the burns of both mother and child. There was no hope for the little girl, who died shortly after, but her mother will recover. The funeral will be held from the house Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. O. P. SHELLHAMER, of York, to officiate. Interment will be made as the Holtzschwam cemetery. The Gazette - Monday, November 14, 1910
