Mummert, an aged pastor of the Church of the Brethren, being an ex-bishop of that church, succumbed yesterday morning at 11:40 o'clock at his home in Jackson township, to blood poisoning, caused by injuries sustained to his left hand several weeks ago when caught in the cog wheels of a separator. The Rev. Mr. Mummert preached the gospel for a period of more than 40 years, being ordained at Black Rock church, Manheim township. About five years after being accepted into the ministry the Rev. Mr. Mummert was honored by the conference by being elected a bishop. He served various congregations and was actively engaged in the work until his sickness. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson township and died at his home a short distance from the old homestead. He was 75 years, 5 months and 17 days old. The aged clergyman was in the act of cleaning a separator several weeks ago, when his fingers were caught in the cogs. Blood poisoning developed shortly afterward. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Emma Mummert, of Lancaster; George, Menges Mills; David, of Spring Grove; Ezra, of Paradise township; Mrs. Samuel Jacobs, of Stoverstown; Mary and Samuel, at home; Moses, Jr., Jackson township, and Daniel, of Steelton. Concluding services will be held at the Pleasant Hill Meeting house, Jackson township. Interment will be made in the adjacent cemetery. The Rev. David Baker, of Hanover, and the Rev.
