Newcomer Mrs. Fannie Sophia Newcomer, wife of John W. Newcomer, died at her late home, No. 42 East Middle Street, Sunday morning at 5:30 o’clock following a week’s illness from double pneumonia. She was aged 39 years, 11 months and 12 days. The deceased was a daughter of Henry and Martha Althouse, late of Taneytown, Md. The family moved to Hanover in 1912. Mrs. Newcomer was a member of Grace Reformed church, Taneytown, having in early life been a Lutheran. She was married seventeen years ago. Her husband and four children survive – Carroll, aged 9 years; David, aged 7; Annie aged 3 and an infant daughter a week old. Three brothers, George Althouse, of Barlow, Adams County, and Samuel and Harry Althouse, of Littlestown, and four sisters, Mrs. John W. Kiser, of Pleasant Street; Mrs. Ella Trimmer, of Walnut Street; Mrs. John Harner, of Second Avenue, and Mrs. Harvey Ott, of Taneytown, also survive. Funeral service Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the house, Rev. George W. Nicely of St. Mark’s Lutheran church officiating. Wednesday, the remains were taken to Taneytown by funeral director Charles Nugent at 8:50 a.m. over the Pennsylvania railroad, where further services were held in Grace Reformed Church, Rev.
