Reigart; After having suffered for almost three weeks from a peculiar form of skin disease diagnosed by physicians as Pempphigus. Zachariah K. Reigart, grocer, 455 south George street, died from its effects yesterday morning at 6:15 o'clock, after a night of intense suffering. The case was declared by physicians who visited Mr. Reigart during his illness to have been the most extreme that has come to their attention. Mr. Reigart was 67 years old. Pempphigus is characterized by and eruption of large vesicles filled with serous fluid. These vesicles open, discharging their contents and exposing the under skin of the body. Discoloration of the skin takes place. The disease appears in two forms, acute and chronic, and is of mysterious origin. It is non- contagious. In mild or ordinary cases the vesticles are scattered over the body, neck, face and extremities. In the case of Mr. Reigart the vesicles or "blisters" varied in size from a pea to a hen's egg and covered him entirely. There was not a square inch of skin on his entire body where the "blisters" did not appear. They were even on his scalp and the soles of his feet. Mr. Reigart had previous mild attacks of Pempphigus. Usually the disease is not fatal unless attended by complication. Mr. Reigart's age is believed to have hastened his death. During the late stages of the disease Mr. Reigart's body was almost entirely covered with scabs. Mr. Reigart leaves three brothers, William and Albert, of this city, and Mathias Reigart of Dallastown: also two sisters, Mrs. John Ferree, Mrs. Charles Martin, of Yorkanna. The funeral will be held from his home tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock (new time). Services will be in charge of Rev. Albert Bell, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, to which congregation Mr. Reigart belonged. Burial will be made in the community mausoleum in Prospect Hill cemetery.
