A Youth's Suicide

Samuel Richard, an 18-year-old orphan who has been living in the vicinity of 
Cross Roads, York county, for some time committed suicide Monday afternoon by 
shooting himself with a revolver.  His dead body was found in the chicken house 
on the farm of Jacob Herr by several children who were playing in the vicinity.  
It is believed the young man became despondent because he was in ill health and 
had no place to call his home, both parents being dead.  He was employed by Mr. 
Herr on the farm and was a faithful employee.
