Ruth died last evening at 9:45 o'clock at his home on the corner of East Middle Street and Baer Avenue, of consumption. While he had been ill for about a year, he was confined to bed only for the past three days. He was in the 45th year of his age. Deceased was a son of the late Henry Ruth, and was born in July, 1854. He was married Feb. 26, 1889, to Miss Jennie Sunday, daughter of George Sunday, then of Conowago Township but now of Hanover. His wife and two children, Helen and Eldon, survive him; also his mother, Mrs. Henry Ruth, of Baltimore Street, three brothers and one sister, - Dr. H. C. Ruth, of York Street, Dr. Quincy L. Ruth, of Wrightsville, Ellsworth and Miss Angelina Ruth, of Baltimore Street. Mr. Ruth was a cigarmaker by trade and for some time conducted a cigar factory at the home of his father, on Baltimore Street, and later in a factory at the rear of his own home. Several years ago, he gave up the business on account of ill health, and then worked in the factory of Jacob Markel on Locust Street. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at 10 o'clock at the house. Rev. Dr. J. C. Koller, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, of which deceased was a member, will officiate.
