The funeral was to have been held Monday, but had been postponed owing to the blizzard. Services at the house at 9 o'clock were conducted by Rev. R. F. Stock, pastor of the Evangelical church. After the services at the house, the funeral cortege proceeded to St. Luke's Lutheran church, near Conrad, Chanceford township, in sleighs. Seven sleighs were used to convey the corpse and mourners to the church. At places where the drifts were too deep to get through, the procession detoured through fields. Rev. Glen Hafer, pastor at St. Luke's church, conducted the services there, after which the body was interred in the cemetery adjoining the edifice. The pallbearers were six grandsons, as follow: George Hake, Walter Craley, Charles Cooper, Ira Kimmons, Ammon Shoff and Emory Gipe. It required two hours for the funeral procession to reach the church, a distance of about seven miles. The return trip also took two hours. Funeral Director Furnace B. Olewiler, Red Lion, was in charge of the funeral. The Gazette And Daily Thursday, February 03, 1928
