Stambaugh died Jan. 18, at his home in Baders, Illinois, from pneumonia, aged 77 years, 8 months and 8 days. Mr. Stambaugh was a son of the late Henry and Leah Stambaugh, of Smith Station and went to Illinois in 1864. He was twice married, his first wife died 12 years ago. His second wife, on Dec. 17th last, slipped on the ice and fractured her hip. She was taken to the Galesburg Hospital, and when the news was brought to her of her husband’s death, the shock was too great to bear and she died the next day, Jan. 19th. Her age was 64 years, 10 months and 28 days. Mr. Stambaugh leaves five sons and two daughters, children of his first wife: Albert W., of Browing: Mrs. Sarah Hays, of Vermont; John S., of Astoria; Henry W., Mrs. Rosa Skiles, Nathaniel and Amos, of Baders, Illinois. He is also survived by one brother, Henry D. Stambaugh, of Smith Station, York county, and a sister, Mrs. Cecelia Meckley, of York street, Hanover. The funeral services were held from the Christian church, Thursday and Friday afternoons, Rec. Chloe officiating. Interment in the Baders cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, February 5, 1916
