Stauffer, a retired farmer, died at his late home, York street extended, Sunday morning at 5 o’clock, following a stroke of paralysis which he received about 8 p.m. Saturday. He was aged 63 years, 10 months and 29 days. The deceased was a son of the late Jacob and Margaret (Keeney) Stauffer and was born in North Codorus township, March 1, 18?2, where his early life was spent. About forty years ago he was married to Miss Elizabeth Bollinger a daughter of the late Samuel Bollinger, of Heidelberg township. Most of their married life was spent in farming in this vicinity. Five years ago Mr. Stauffer received his first paralytic stroke, from which he never fully recovered. He then retired from active duties and last Fall moved to his present home, York street extended. Mr. Stauffer was a life-long Lutheran and for the past number of years was a faithful member of the Mount Carmel Lutheran church. He held the office of school director of Heidelberg township a number of years ago. He leaves his wife and the following children: Mrs. Paul Wolf, of near Abbottstown; Mrs. Clayton Bollinger, of Jacobs Mills; Warren Stauffer, of Smith Station; Harry Stauffer, of York street extended; Miss Annie Stauffer, Harvey, Herman and Franklin Stauffer, at home. The following brothers and sister also survive: Edman Stauffer, of Gitt’s Run; Hamilton Stauffer, of Spring Grove; Sylvester Stauffer, of Center street, Hanover; Nelson Stauffer, of York street extended; Leander K. Stauffer, of Abbottstown street extended, and Miss Lizzie A. Stauffer, of York. There are also five grandchildren living. Funeral Wednesday Feb. 2, services at Bair’s meeting house, York road, at 9:30 a.m., Rev. S. A. Diehl officiating. Interment on the family lot in York road cemetery.
