All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ John Sterner John Sterner, a well-known and highly respected citizen of Codorus township, near Jefferson, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, May 5th after an illness of 18 months, from cancer of the knee. He was aged 80 years, 4 months and 4 days. The deceased was the fourth member of the family of eleven children to die, all of them being over 80 years of age. His wife died about 19 years ago. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Freeman Myers, of Jefferson, and three sons, Eli, of Codorus township; Emanuel, of Jefferson, and Dr. L. H. Sterner, of Porters. Also the following brothers and sisters – Samuel Sterner, Codorus township; Jesse Sterner, Jefferson; Mrs. Jacob Shearer and Mrs. John Shearer, Jefferson; Mrs. Jacob Brenneman and Mrs. Christ Brenneman, Codorus township; Mrs. Catharine Craumer, York. Funeral Thursday, May 8th, services at the house, Rev. W. M. Ehrhart and Rev. Canoles officiating. Interment in the Jefferson cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, May 10, 1913
