H. Emily Stokes - September 4, 1995

Born in Lower Chanceford Township

Airville - H. Emily Stokes, 88, of Airville, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday at the 
home of her daughter in Red Lion. She was the wife of C. R. Stokes who died in 
1969.

The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Harkins Funeral Home Inc., 600 Main 
Street, Delta. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery near Delta. Viewing will be 1 
to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stokes was born Feb. 28, 1907, in Lower Chanceford Township, She was the 
daughter of the late Frank and Cecelia (Sinclair) Stephens.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church for more that 65 years.
Mrs. Stokes is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Gouker of Red Lion; a 
stepdaughter, Madeline Hoffmaster of Airville; four grandchildren; 11 step-
grandchildren; 29 step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and 
15 step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two stepsons.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Golden Gaither.
