Phila. 6/7/1946 Funeral services for Joseph J. Stokes. superintendent of mechanical maintenance at Presbyterian hospital for the last 25 years, were held at 2:30PM yesterday at 600 N. 63d St. He was 76. Mr Stokes died Friday at his home, 128 Washington Ave., Manoa, Delaware County, following several months illness. Born at McCall's Ferry, along the Susquehanna River, he left there in 1899 to reside in Philadelphia. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 15 years prior to his connection with the hospital. Mr. Stokes is survived by his widow, Susan; Three sons, Leroy, of Manoa, William S., of Llanerch, and John of Lewes, Del., a daughter Mrs. A. E. Lee, of Arlington Heights, Ill, and two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Skill, of Manoa, and Mrs. Viesey Chandlee, of Sunnyburn, York County. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery. Publication unknown
