All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Charles Swartz After a prolonged illness, from a complication of diseases, Charles Swartz died at his home, 523 Baltimore St., at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, aged 77 years, 7 months and 25 days. The deceased was a veteran of the civil war, having entered the service as a private in Company I, 166th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers on the 24th of October, 1862, and was honorably discharged July 28, 1863. He was a member of Major Jenkins Post No. 99, G. A. R., and a pensioner. He is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Miss Justina Fissel, of Jefferson, this county; three sons, George, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Charles and Milton, at home; and two daughters, Mrs. Jesse L. Brodbeck, of Carlisle street, and Mrs. Paul Nace, of Blooming Grove. He is also survived by two brothers, William Swartz, of Brodbecks, and Henry Swartz, of Blooming Grove. Funeral Saturday, Nov. 22, services at the house at 1:30 p.m., Rev. J. H. Hartman officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, November 22, 1913
