Weaver, widow of Samuel R. Weaver, and mother of Mayor Jacob C. Weaver, died Saturday at the home of Mrs. W. S. Myers, in West Manchester township, where she resided. Death was caused by infirmities of age. She was 90 years old. She was the eldest daughter of the Rev. Jacob and Anna Mary Ziegler. She resided with her parents in Bedford county until 1850 when the Rev. Mr. Ziegler was transferred to Gettysburg, where she lived until 1865. During the battle of Gettysburg, she, with the members of her family lived in a cellar for three days. During the battle, with bullets flying about, she walked a distance of two blocks to obtain yeast to be used for baking bread for the Union soldiers. After the battle she assisted in cleaning up the Catholic church, near the home of her parents, which was used as a temporary hospital for the wounded. She was a schoolmate of Jenny Wade. In 1865 her father moved to York and assumed the pastorate that included the Holtzschwam church, Salem Union church and Wolf's. In 1867 she married Samuel R. Weaver, of York, and resided there the remainder of her life. In the spring of 1929 Mrs. Weaver fell and broke a hip, and had not fully recovered from the effects of this accident when complications developed which caused her death. She is survived by four sons. Mrs. T. C. Bilheimer, Gettysburg, is a sister. News Comet, East Berlin, PA, October 17, 1930
