Kraft, after a sickness of only several days. Death was due to infirmities. During her sickness the family was unable to prevail upon her to take any medicine. Pills that were given her would be found from time to time secreted in the bed or about the room. The deceased was the widow of John Weigand, one of the organizers of the Codorus and Manheim Fire Insurance company, of York. She was a daughter of the late Philip and Julia Raubenstine, of the vicinity of Glenville. She resided in Hanover for a number of years, going to Spring Grove to reside with her daughter, Mrs. Kraft, about six years ago. The aged woman frequently recited incidents that occurred during the Civil war, especially of how her family was compelled by force to feed the soldiers of both the Union and Confederate armies. On several occasions large numbers of soldiers came to the Raubenstine home and consumed all the food, leaving practically nothing for the family. Mrs. Weigand was 86 years, 8 months and 28 days old. Surviving are Mrs. George H. Kraft, of Spring Grove, and Mrs. Julia Sharp, of Hanover, a sister. Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral Sunday morning, short services at the house at 8:30 o’clock, concluding services and interment at Stone church, Glenville, Rev. W. H. Ehrhart, officiating.
