He had been a resident of that town for the last 22 years and until two years ago had been in the farm implement business. Prior to becoming a resident of Spring Grove he was engaged in farming in Jackson township. He took an active part in various municipal and political affairs, although he never sought any county office. He served as a councilman at different times. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kathryn Wiest, four sons and four daughters, as follows: Attorney A. C. Wiest, York; John E. Wiest, Tacoma, Wash.; Harry Wiest, Columbus, O.; William F. Wiest, York; Mrs. Elizabeth Markel, near Brillhart’s station; Mrs. Park Brandt, York; Mrs. Geo. E. Stover, this place, and Miss Mazie Wiest, at home. Two brothers and one sister survive – P. M. Wiest, Hanover; L. D. Wiest, Bend, Oregon, and Mrs. Andrew H. Hershey, near Spring Grove. Funeral Saturday, Nov. 23, brief services at the house at 9:45 a.m. Further services and interment at Trinity Reformed church, Jackson township, Rev. Dr. O. P. Schellhamer of York, officiating.
