All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Solomon Williams Solomon Williams, an aged veteran of the Civil War, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Allen Swartzbaugh, No. 509 East Middle Street, on Monday morning following an illness of three weeks from blood poisoning, resulting from a bunion on his right foot. He was aged 83 years, 10 months and 22 days. The deceased was a son of the late William and Lydia Williams and was born in Codorus Township, York County. In early life he moved to Jefferson where he resided until several years ago when he moved to Hanover. He was unmarried. The deceased enlisted in Company D 76th Pennsylvania Volunteers, on October 25, 1861, and served for three years in the war of the rebellion, being honorably discharged on October 20, 1864. He is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Allen Swartzbaugh and Charles Garver, of North Street; Mrs. John Keeney, of Charles Street; Albert Williams, of Hagerstown, and Franklin Graver, of Jefferson. Funeral Wednesday at 10 a.m., services at the house, No. 509 East Middle Street, Rev. A. M. Heilman of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church, officiating. Interment in the Union Cemetery, Jefferson.
