The funeral took place on Saturday, services conducted by Rev. Thomas G. Baxter; interment at Bryansville cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews: Abraham Pyle, Joseph Torbert, Gatchelville. William Dunlap, Sunnyburn, John W. Tompkins, Fawn Grove. William B. Torbert, Bridgeton, Ersey L. McDermott, Bellvue. Mr. Wise was the son of the late Henry Allen and Margaret (Whiteford) Wise. He spent his life in Peach Bottom township, and since his marriage had lived in the house where he died. His wife was Miss Mary A. Torbert. They celebrated their golden wedding on New Year's day 1912. To them were born five children, three of whom survive, viz; Annie M. wife of George V. Ewell, of Fawn Grove, Susie L. wife of C. Chester Clarke, of Chanceford and Wentzel W. Wise, of Peach bottom township; also by one brother, John Wesley, of Bryansville, and four sisters, Mrs. Rachel E. Showers, of York, Mrs. Mary A. Torbert, of Gatchelville, Mrs. Elizabeth Dunlap, of Sunnyburn, and Mrs. Caroline Flaharty of Southside; also by 14 grand children and 3 great-grand-children. For nearly 40 years he was one of the prominent teachers in Peach Bottom township, and was always respected as an honest man and a peaceful citizen.
