Woods, one of Hanover's oldest and most respected citizens, died at his home in Hanover at 5 a.m. Thursday, from a complication of diseases, after a few days illness, aged 75 years, 11 months and 16 days. Deceased was a painter by trade, was a son of Joseph Woods of East Berlin, and was united in marriage 54 years ago to Miss Susan Flickinger, daughter of John Flickinger, who survives him, with two daughters - Mrs. Kate Becker and Miss Ella Woods, of Hanover. Two sisters - Mrs. Elizabeth Hildebrand, of Indiana, Pa., and Mrs. Catharine Stoner, of East Berlin, also survive. Mr. Woods was at one time a prominent figure in Democratic political circles of York county. He took great interest in party affairs, and in 1870 was elected to the office of Recorder of Deeds.
